He made these remarks in a welcome speech while participating in the National Parliament for the first time on Tuesday (July 14). He joined parliament after the court's verdict on July 9 declared his candidature valid.
I have been humiliated before the nation as a loan defaulter: Sarwar Alamgir
Sarwar Alamgir said, “I have been humiliated before the nation as a loan defaulter. By not allowing me to come to the National Parliament for the past four months, the people of the area have been deprived of many things.”
He further said, “Those who talk about justice made me wander from door to door of the High Court. Their candidate got less than half the votes I received. If the people are the source of power, then the question remains why I had to win again from the High Court.”

Claiming that there was no case against him from any bank, Sarwar Alamgir said, “I have come here after winning for the second time. The people of Fatikchhari voted for me and gifted my seat to Tarique Rahman.”
It is to be noted that on February 12 this year, the Election Commission cancelled the nomination of BNP candidate Sarwar Alamgir for the Chattogram-2 constituency in the thirteenth national parliamentary election on charges of being a loan defaulter.
Later, when he filed a writ petition in the High Court, the court, after preliminary hearing, directed him to participate in the election and allocate the 'sheaf of paddy' symbol. However, against that order, the Jamaat candidate from the same constituency, Muhammad Nurul Amin, approached the Appellate Division. The Appellate Division granted leave to appeal and heard the case.
Subsequently, after the hearing on July 2, the court delivered its verdict in favor of Sarwar Alamgir on July 9. Through that verdict, his candidature was declared valid, and the legal barrier to serving as a Member of Parliament was removed.
