The meeting was held on Friday (July 17) at the morning fisheries office of Chairman Alhaj Awal, president of Barsharghar Union Awami League, in the Sanchail area of the upazila.

Local sources said that the meeting was attended by Alhaj Awal Chairman, president of Barsharghar Union Awami League; General Secretary Ahsanur Rashid Shamim; Awami League leader Md. Shajahan Master from the Chhotashalghar area; and party activists from various levels.
During the meeting, residents raised various issues related to local infrastructure development, communication systems, and public services. MP Hasnat Abdullah listened to their statements, noted various matters, and assured them of taking necessary initiatives.

Meanwhile, news of the meeting being held with the presence of Awami League leaders spread, causing discontent among some local BNP and anti-discrimination student movement activists. The issue has sparked discussions in political circles in the area.
Debidwar Upazila BNP convener Jasim Uddin Sarkar alleged that there is no consistency between Hasnat Abdullah's statements and actions. He questioned how a meeting could be held with the union president and general secretary of the Awami League.
On the other hand, multiple attempts were made to contact Chairman Awal, president of Barsharghar Union Awami League, for a comment on the matter, but he did not answer the phone.
Regarding the same issue, messages were sent via phone and WhatsApp to MP Hasnat Abdullah, but no response was received from him until the report was published.
