In his speech as the chief guest, Public Administration Adviser Md. Ismail Zabullah said, globally, one in every 500 to 600 newborns is born with a cleft lip or palate problem. In Bangladesh, about five thousand children face this congenital problem every year. A successful surgery not only changes a face but transforms an entire life.
After the inauguration, the adviser informed that the government has started working to upgrade every upazila hospital to 101 beds to bring healthcare to the doorstep of the common people.
He also outlined plans for special services for government officials and employees at the divisional level and digitizing all hospital activities.
Ismail Zabullah mentioned the government's integrated initiative to increase awareness about congenital defects and ensure timely surgery.
After the inauguration of the free surgery program, he inaugurated the call center of the Government Employees Hospital. The event was attended by secretaries of the Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry of Health, along with other senior officials.
