PM announces implementation of 31-point state reform
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the announced 31-point state reform program will be implemented in consultation with the political parties and alliances that participated in the simultaneous movement. He also pledged to implement the issues on which the political parties reached consensus and signed in the July National Charter to the letter.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave this information at a press conference held after a meeting with the Prime Minister and alliance partners at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday (July 20) night.

In response to a question about local government elections, Mirza Fakhrul said that under the current law, there is no scope for local government elections under party symbols. However, decisions on all matters will be taken in consultation with partner parties in the future.

Leaders from 41 political parties, including the Ganatantra Manch, 12-party alliance, Samamona Jatiyabadi Alliance, Ganatantrik Bam Alliance, Islam Oikya Jote, participated in the meeting.

At the press conference, Mirza Fakhrul said that the student-mass uprising of July 2024 has created an opportunity to re-establish a democratic environment in the country. He remembered with respect all those who were martyred, injured, and tortured in this movement.

He informed that the Prime Minister had a cordial exchange of views with the leaders of the political parties that have been part of the simultaneous movement for the last 15-16 years. Leaders of various parties praised the government's activities in the first five months.

According to Mirza Fakhrul, the Prime Minister said that after taking responsibility, he had to focus on running the state and ensuring public service on a priority basis. The government is working to restore the economy, rebuild broken institutions, and restore administrative discipline.

He further informed that the Prime Minister will hold regular meetings with political parties in the future and the government will remain committed to implementing the 31-point state reform program and the July National Charter.
