CNG filling stations across the country to remain closed for 18 hours on July 30 demanding commission increase
The Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association has announced that all CNG filling stations across the country will remain closed from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM on Thursday, July 30, demanding an increase in commission.

The leaders of the organization announced this program at a press conference held at the organization's office in the capital's Bijoynagar on Tuesday (July 21).

At the press conference, they said that although they have been demanding an increase in commission for a long time, this symbolic program has been announced as the relevant authorities have not taken any effective steps. However, they also said that discussions with the government on the matter will continue.

The organization claims that the current commission given per cubic meter on CNG sales is not consistent with the current cost structure. Therefore, the commission must be increased to a minimum of Tk 13.96 per cubic meter.

The leaders said that if the demand is not met, all CNG filling stations across the country will be closed indefinitely from August 23.

The press conference also informed that the commission for CNG filling stations was last set at Tk 8 per cubic meter on September 1, 2015. Over the past 11 years, due to abnormal inflation, increases in minimum wages for workers, rising prices of spare parts, and increases in bank guarantee and lease fees, the cost of operating filling stations has increased significantly.

The leaders of the organization also claimed that in the current economic reality, there is no alternative to revising the commission for the survival of the business owners.
