Md. Sufi Ullah took charge as the Superintendent of Police of Pabna on May 7 this year. Since taking charge, he intensified operations against drug trafficking, drug use, and illegal sand extraction. According to district police sources, over a thousand drug dealers and users were arrested in the last two months. He also took a tough stance against illegal sand extractors.

However, his transfer shortly after taking charge has sparked various discussions across the district. Many have raised questions about the decision to remove an officer in the midst of ongoing operations.

Meanwhile, in recent times, the activities of leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations in Pabna, protests in various areas, and incidents like the attack on police in Sujanagar have led to political and administrative discussions about the law and order situation in the district.

Additionally, there was criticism on social media regarding allegations of not arresting an accused in the case of two students killed in the July movement. Against the backdrop of these incidents, questions have been raised in various quarters about the role of the police.

However, whether there is any connection between these incidents and the transfer has not been officially disclosed.

When asked about the transfer, Md. Sufi Ullah confirmed receiving the order and said, "I do not know why I have been transferred."
