Jamaat expels MP Ghazi Nazrul over moral misconduct allegations

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the central executive council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami held at the official residence of the opposition leader on Mint Road in the capital on Wednesday (July 22) at 4 PM. The meeting was chaired by the party's Amir and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP.

On behalf of Jamaat, it was informed that an organizational investigation was conducted following recent incidents published in various media regarding Ghazi Nazrul Islam. As the investigation proved his moral misconduct, he has been expelled from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in accordance with Article 62 of the party's constitution.

At the same time, a decision was also taken to formally inform the Bangladesh Election Commission immediately about the expulsion of Ghazi Nazrul Islam.
