Health workers will conduct home-to-home health screening to detect diseases at early stage: Health Minister
Stating that every citizen of the country has the right to healthcare, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said no one will be deprived of healthcare. To ensure the health care of the people and to detect fatal diseases at an early stage, the government will start a 'Home-to-Home Health Screening' program across the country.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 'Hygiene for Health Bangladesh' at Gulshan Lake Park in the capital on Wednesday (July 22) evening.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said the government will recruit 1 lakh health workers. 80 percent of them will be women. These female workers will go door-to-door and teach ordinary women how to examine themselves for breast and cervical cancer. So that diseases can be detected at an early stage and treatment can be given quickly. Health workers will go door-to-door with a special box and provide facilities for various tests at home, including checking blood pressure, weight, diabetes, and lipid profile.

He said, to stay healthy, there is no alternative to living in a clean environment. Public awareness and good health are prerequisites for building a healthy and knowledge-based prosperous nation.

Referring to the increase in cesarean sections across the country, the Health Minister said, currently most children are being born through cesarean sections. After cesarean, children are not being given 'colostrum', the biggest source of protein given by nature and the Creator. Due to mothers' busyness, negligence, and changes in lifestyle, the rate of breastfeeding is decreasing, which is pushing children towards severe malnutrition. In specific regions (such as Brazil), due to severe protein deficiency, patients are suffering from severe pneumonia immediately after being affected by dysentery.

Present at the meeting were Samanjar Saeed, title holder of Miss World Bangladesh 2026, Gulshan Society President Omar Sadat, Miss World Bangladesh National Director Azra Mahmud, Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation Shaheen Anam, General Secretary of Gulshan Society Mujibur Rahman Mridha, among others.
