Special passport correction facility for expatriates extended
The government has extended the special facility for issuing and re-issuing passports with corrected information for Bangladeshi citizens living abroad by another six months. According to the new decision, this facility will remain effective until December 31, 2026.

Recently, this information was provided in a notification issued by the Immigration-4 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It was signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Nuruzzaman.

The notification stated that the validity of the previously issued special facility has been extended by another six months to ensure uninterrupted passport-related services for Bangladeshi citizens living abroad and in consideration of public interest.

As a result, expatriate Bangladeshis who need to correct information such as name, date of birth, parents' names, or other details in their passports can apply for a new passport issuance or re-issuance based on the corrected information within the stipulated time.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that according to the order issued on July 8, 2025, the validity of this facility was until June 30, 2026. In the latest decision, it has been extended until December 31, 2026.

The notification further stated that the decision will take effect immediately. Instructions have been given to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Department of Immigration and Passports, and all relevant departments including Bangladesh missions in various countries around the world to take necessary measures in this regard.

According to those concerned, with the extension of the deadline, expatriates who could not apply for passport information correction within the stipulated time will now have the opportunity to complete the necessary process within the new timeframe. This will make it easier for expatriates to receive passport-related services and will facilitate various administrative and travel-related activities abroad.
