Speaker Hafiz Uddin returns to the country amid rumors of the President's resignation
National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has returned to the country by shortening his visit to Thailand amid discussions of the President's possible resignation. He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:15 pm on Friday.

According to the constitution, if the President wishes to resign, he must submit his signed resignation letter to the Speaker. Additionally, according to Article 54 of the constitution, if the President's position becomes vacant, the Speaker acts as the Acting President until a new President is elected. For this reason, the Speaker's return to the country before his scheduled time is considered significant in the current situation.

Earlier, on July 19, the Speaker went to Bangkok, Thailand for advanced medical treatment. According to the pre-determined schedule, he was supposed to return to the country on July 26, but considering the overall situation, he returned two days earlier.

Meanwhile, specialist doctors have advised President Mohammed Shahabuddin to undergo advanced treatment and take complete rest. According to responsible sources at Bangabhaban, recent CT scans and MRI tests have shown signs of neurological problems in addition to his heart disease.

Sources said the President has been suffering from heart disease for a long time. He underwent bypass surgery in Singapore and later sought treatment in the UK due to physical weakness, waist and back pain. Recently, as his physical complications increased, he again consulted doctors.

Officials at Bangabhaban said the President performed his regular official duties on Thursday as well. On that day, he signed several government documents and exchanged pleasantries with officials and employees. However, discussions continue in the political arena regarding his health condition and the possibility of resignation.
