MP Ghazi Nazrul under surveillance in attempted murder case, information on preparation for arrest
According to investigation sources, preparations are underway to arrest Satkhira-4 constituency Member of Parliament Ghazi Nazrul Islam in a case filed on charges of attempted murder. Police have already arrested one accused in the case, Aminur Rahman. Ghazi Nazrul Islam has been named as an accused in the case's complaint.

According to sources among the investigating officers, Ghazi Nazrul is currently under police surveillance. The investigation team is awaiting instructions from higher authorities regarding his arrest. Meanwhile, operations are ongoing in various locations to arrest the other accused in the case.

It has also been learned that, in the interest of the investigation, Ghazi Nazrul's second wife, Mariam, may be summoned to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) office for questioning. Investigators claim that her statement is necessary to clarify several aspects mentioned in the case's complaint.

Meanwhile, regarding a video that went viral on social media, Ghazi Nazrul has claimed that the video was recorded at his father-in-law's house and that his personal driver, Obaidur Rahman, is involved in the incident with the intention of blackmail. On the other hand, Obaidur Rahman has alleged that Ghazi Nazrul threatened to kill him and assaulted him. Police say field-level investigations are ongoing to verify the conflicting claims of both parties.

After the video was released, the matter sparked widespread discussion and criticism. Later, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami decided to expel Ghazi Nazrul Islam from the party on charges of moral turpitude and informed the Speaker of the National Parliament and the Chief Election Commissioner about the matter.

Deputy Police Commissioner of the Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, Rakib Khan, has said that the investigation into the case is ongoing.

The complainant in the case, Obaidur Rahman, stated in the complaint that he was Ghazi Nazrul Islam's personal driver. A dispute arose after a matter regarding a personal relationship became known. Later, on July 14, he was called, assaulted, and an attempt was made to strangle him, leading to the charges. The arrested accused, Aminur Rahman, has been sent to jail through the court, and preparations are underway to take him into remand.
