Speaking at a seminar organized at the Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Friday (July 24), he said, 'One cannot believe political news just by reading newspapers. I do not believe in rumors.'
Mirza Fakhrul said that democracy is facing various challenges worldwide at present. However, BNP always remains confident in the democratic process and believes in accountability to the people.
He further said that BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman is working with the goal of national development and the government is committed to implementing the promises made to the people before the elections.
Referring to the instability in the global economy and politics due to ongoing wars and conflicts in various parts of the world, the BNP Secretary General said that the government wants to maintain balanced relations with all countries of the world by giving utmost importance to Bangladesh's national interests.
At the end of his speech, he urged the people to be cautious about various rumors and misleading information being spread regarding the president's resignation.
