Navy Chief pays tribute at Shikha Anirban after taking charge
A day after assuming office, the newly appointed Chief of the Bangladesh Navy, Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah Ul Azim, paid tribute to the memory of the members of the armed forces who were martyred in the Great Liberation War.

On Friday (July 24), he paid homage to the brave martyrs by laying a wreath at the Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment. This information was provided in a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).

ISPR said that after paying tribute, the Navy Chief signed the visitors' book at Shikha Anirban.

Later, upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, he was welcomed by the Principal Staff Officers. A well-dressed contingent of the Navy presented him with a Guard of Honour. He inspected the guard and accepted the salute. At that time, the Principal Staff Officer of the Naval Headquarters and other senior naval officers were present.

ISPR further stated that, following the directives of Prime Minister Tareq Rahman, the new Navy Chief will work towards building the Bangladesh Navy as a modern blue-water navy to ensure the security of the country's maritime boundaries and blue economy. To this end, he is committed to further enhancing the Navy's capabilities by incorporating modern frigates, submarines, and advanced sonar and radar technologies.

It is noteworthy that Vice Admiral Khondkar Misbah Ul Azim assumed the role of Chief of the Bangladesh Navy on July 23.
