State Minister himself trained to strengthen accountability and monitoring in primary education
Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj has taken an exceptional initiative to ensure quality improvement, effective monitoring, and accountability in primary education. He himself conducted three training sessions of about two hours each, totaling six hours, providing guidance to field-level education officers on administrative reform, quality improvement of education, and future action plans.

He said these things as the chief guest at a day-long training workshop titled 'Classroom Activity Management, Monitoring, Accountability, and Changing Expectations towards Local Administration in Primary Education in Bangladesh' organized by the District Primary Education Office, Sylhet at Sylhet PTI on Sunday.

The State Minister said that the government's top priority is to turn every school into a 100% effective educational institution. The real picture of why any school is ineffective, teacher shortage, infrastructural limitations, training deficiencies, or any other problems must be brought up from the field level. He emphasized ensuring quick solutions based on reality without concealing information.

He said that the focus of all government investment will be on students' learning outcomes. More important than how many buildings have been constructed or how many projects have been implemented is how much students are actually learning when they come to school. He called upon the field administration to work more responsibly and result-oriented to achieve this goal.

Bobby Hajjaj informed that initiatives are being taken to increase the dignity, capability, and necessary facilities of education administration officials to bring qualitative change in primary education. However, their efficiency, transparency, and accountability will also be strictly evaluated.

He further announced that cleaners and night guards will be appointed in all government primary schools in the country within the next year.

The State Minister said that education officers and teachers must be aware of social media and mass media in the current times. Responsible and positive communication with parents, media, and the general public is also an important duty of an education officer.

Calling for regular and impartial reports from the field level to ensure infrastructure development, safe school buildings, pure water, sanitation, mid-day meals, and quality of development projects, he said that no irregularities or substandard work will be tolerated.

Regarding school visits, Bobby Hajjaj said that the purpose of the visit is not just administrative oversight; the most important thing is to verify how much students are actually learning. For this, he placed special emphasis on conducting a direct 'learning audit' in the classroom during each school visit.

After the training, participating officers said that the State Minister himself conducted the training for a long time, listened to real field-level problems, provided guidance on solutions, and gave a clear message to build a new work culture based on result-oriented monitoring and accountability.

The workshop was attended by the Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education), all District Primary Education Officers of Sylhet Division, Assistant District Primary Education Officers, Upazila Education Officers, Assistant Upazila Education Officers, and UPETC Instructors.
