Today, Tuesday, at the conference room of the Road Transport and Highways Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. UNO Yoshimasa, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Shipping and Railways, Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP. During this time, various issues of mutual interest between the two countries were discussed.
During the meeting, Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP expressed sincere thanks to Mr. UNO Yoshimasa for Japan's long-standing cooperation in Bangladesh's infrastructure development and communication sector. He said that Japan's continued cooperation as a development partner of Bangladesh is very important. Particularly, Japan's experience, technological knowledge and technical cooperation are extremely valuable for Bangladesh in building a modern, safe, sustainable and environment-friendly public transport system including metro rail.
The Road and Bridges Minister further said that the government is working with a long-term plan to develop the communication infrastructure and modernize the public transport system of Bangladesh. The experience and cooperation of development partner countries like Japan can play an important role in building an integrated, safe, people-friendly and environment-friendly communication system. He expressed the hope that the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan will be further strengthened in the coming days and the scope of cooperation will be expanded further in various areas of mutual interest.
In the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. UNO Yoshimasa, said that it is very important to develop modern and sustainable public transport infrastructure in line with Bangladesh's growing urbanization and economic growth. In this regard, there is an opportunity to more effectively utilize Japan's experience, advanced technology and technical expertise in Bangladesh's development activities. On the basis of mutual trust and cooperation, the two countries can work more closely in the future in infrastructure development, metro rail, railway communication, road transport and other important sectors. He informed that Japan's cooperation will continue in Bangladesh's development journey.
During the meeting, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Md. Shawkatul Alam were present.
