BNP-NCP's Counter Programs: Section 144 Imposed in Habiganj Municipality Area
Fearing possible clashes and deterioration of law and order due to counter programs of BNP and National Citizen Party (NCP), the district administration has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the Habiganj municipality area.

The order was issued on Tuesday (July 29) in a public notice signed by the District Commissioner and District Magistrate Dr. G.M. Sarfaraz.

According to the order, Section 144 will remain in force in the Habiganj municipality area from 3:00 PM on Tuesday until further notice.

In the district administration's notice, it was stated that the National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced a protest rally in the Habiganj municipality area. At the same time, programs have also been announced by the district Chhatra Dal and its associate organizations. Due to the possibility of a large number of leaders and activists from both sides being present, there are fears of tension, clashes, loss of life and property, and deterioration of the law and order situation. In this situation, Section 144 has been imposed as a preventive measure to maintain public safety and peace.

Under the restriction, no meetings, rallies, processions, protests, or public gatherings are allowed in areas including the Habiganj Municipality field, Tinkona Pukurpar, Shayestanagar, Cinema Hall Road, Chowdhury Bazaar, Town Hall Road, Court Station area, and the area adjacent to the District Commissioner's office, as well as related locations.

Additionally, carrying bricks, sticks, domestic weapons, or any objects that could disrupt law and order has also been prohibited.

The public notice further stated that this order has been issued under the powers conferred by Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, and it will remain effective until further notice. Legal action will be taken against violators according to the prevailing law.

It is noteworthy that the NCP announced protest programs across the country in protest of the attack on its central leaders. As part of this, the NCP announced a rally at the Habiganj Municipality field at 3:00 PM on Tuesday. After the announcement of programs by the Chhatra Dal and its associate organizations at the same time, tension arose in the city, and the district administration imposed Section 144 to control the situation.
