Additional IGP Barrister Mosharraf Hossain takes charge as CID chief
Additional Inspector General of Police (Additional IGP) Barrister Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain has officially assumed office as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh Police.

He assumed charge at the CID headquarters in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 29).

Earlier, on June 28, he was appointed as the CID chief through a notification issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Prior to taking charge, he was serving as the director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) on deputation. He was promoted to the rank of Additional IGP while serving in the NSI.

Barrister Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) through the 15th BCS in 1995. In a career spanning nearly three decades, he has gained rich experience in investigation, intelligence operations, administration, and training management by serving in various important units of Bangladesh Police.

At different stages of his career, he performed important duties related to training, research, and curriculum development at the Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah. He also served as Special Superintendent of Police at the CID headquarters, Chittagong and Cumilla units, and as Superintendent of Police in Pirojpur and Chapainawabganj districts.

In addition, he has gained multifaceted experience by serving in various units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police Headquarters, and the Rajshahi, Barisal, Rangpur, Khulna, and Dhaka Ranges.

In his academic life, he earned a master's degree in Economics from Islamic University, Kushtia. Later, he completed Bar-at-Law from the City University of London, UK.

Through participation in various professional training, workshops, and international conferences at home and abroad, he has acquired special expertise in modern policing, investigation, and forensics. Notable training includes a forensic laboratory course in Malaysia, a special regional workshop in Pakistan, and participation in the 10th INTERPA conference held in Turkey.

At the assumption of charge ceremony, DIG, Additional DIG, Superintendents of Police, Additional Superintendents of Police, and officials of various levels were present and greeted and congratulated the newly appointed CID chief.
