These decisions were taken at a meeting titled 'Al-Haiatul Ulya's Responsibilities in Preventing Anti-Qawmi Madrasa Propaganda and Addressing the Emerging Situation' held at the Al-Haiatul Ulya office in the capital on Wednesday (July 29).
Representatives of six Qawmi education boards under Al-Haiatul Ulya attended the meeting organized under the direction of Allama Mahmudul Hasan. The meeting was chaired by the organization's Co-Chairman and Senior Vice-President of Befak, Allama Sheikh Sajidur Rahman.
Speakers at the meeting said that if any crime, irregularity, or immoral activity occurs, its proper investigation and legal trial must be ensured. At the same time, no leniency should be shown to the guilty individual or institution. However, they also alleged that in recent times, a one-sided campaign is being run against the entire Qawmi madrasa education system based on some isolated incidents.
Speakers further said that Qawmi madrasas have long-standing contributions to religious education, moral values, human character building, and social welfare activities. Yet, attempts are being made to blame the entire education system for a few isolated incidents, which may create confusion in the public mind.
The meeting called for not accepting or disseminating information circulated in the media and social media without verification. Speakers also urged the media to publish responsible, objective, and fact-based news.
A special hotline has been announced at number 01700-763178 (WhatsApp) for receiving complaints, information, fact-checking, and necessary documents related to Qawmi madrasas. It was informed that messages, voice calls, photos, videos, and necessary documents can be sent to this number.
In addition, a central 'Qawmi Madrasa Monitoring Cell' has been formed with representatives of the six education boards under Al-Haiatul Ulya. Additionally, a decision has been made to form separate 'Madrasa Monitoring Cells' for each education board to oversee the activities of their affiliated madrasas. The meeting also emphasized strengthening madrasa inspection and monitoring activities.
The meeting also announced the decision to form a legal panel consisting of experienced lawyers from the High Court and Supreme Court to provide legal assistance on various issues related to Qawmi madrasas and to take necessary legal steps.
In the central 'Qawmi Madrasa Monitoring Cell', Allama Sheikh Sajidur Rahman, Maulana Mufti Ruhul Amin, Maulana Musleh Uddin Raju, Maulana Mahfuzul Haq, Maulana Bahauddin Zakaria, Maulana Ubaydur Rahman Khan Nadvi, Maulana Abdul Basir, Maulana Mufti Enamul Haq, Maulana Ekram Hossain Wadudi, Maulana Muhsin Sharif, and Maulana Mufti Mohammad Ali have been nominated as members.
In addition to these members, Al-Haiatul Ulya's office manager Maulana Md. Ochiur Rahman was also present at the meeting.
