On Monday (August 3), the Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibli confirmed the matter and said that the Prime Minister's Chattogram visit has been finalized.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will distribute relief among flood victims. In addition, he will hand over new houses built with government assistance to damaged and homeless families. This will be Tarique Rahman's first visit to Chattogram after assuming office as Prime Minister.
Administration sources said that the construction work of the houses for affected families is in the final stage. On the day of the visit, these houses will be handed over to the beneficiaries. Besides, the Prime Minister is likely to address a brief rally.
Extensive preparations have begun at the administrative and party levels centering on the visit. Work on constructing helipads at designated places is also underway. As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will distribute relief in the West Banshkhali area and hand over 100 houses rebuilt with government assistance to affected families.
Convener of Chattogram South District BNP Idris Mia said that he and the member secretary have been summoned to the Prime Minister's Gulshan office to discuss party preparations regarding the Prime Minister's visit. Necessary preparations have also been taken to welcome the Prime Minister, he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Chattogram Mohammad Sharif Uddin said that all kinds of preparations are being taken from the administration side centering on the Prime Minister's visit. After receiving the details of the government programme, final preparations will be completed accordingly.
