Many things could not be written in media during Awami League era: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said many things could not be written in the media during the Awami League government. He said, 'Now journalists can write everything, true or false.'

He said these things as the chief guest at the tea stall handover ceremony under the self-reliance project for the underprivileged organised by US-based charity organisation Love Share BD in Rangpur on Sunday (August 9) afternoon.

The Local Government Minister said, 'After the end of fascist rule, the opportunity to build the country has arrived. During the Awami League government, cases were filed against 60 lakh people, 20,000 people were killed and 1,700 people were forcibly disappeared.'

Regarding the rise in commodity prices, he said that due to the increase in freight charges in the international market, the prices of goods have increased, and the country's gas crisis will be over soon. He further informed that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is implementing the promises made before the election step by step.

Regarding the underprivileged, the minister said that instead of providing assistance for a long time, creating income opportunities is more important. Through the 'tea stall' project, marginalised people are able to earn, which is creating new possibilities for the country.
