UN report on al-Qaeda expansion in Bangladesh is speculative
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said the UN report on al-Qaeda's expansion in Bangladesh is speculative and the government is not taking it into account. He said this on Monday afternoon.

In a recent UN Security Council report, concern was expressed over al-Qaeda activities in Bangladesh. The report said al-Qaeda is trying to establish a permanent base and secret cells in Bangladesh, which law enforcement officials said they would examine.

The report further said that AQIS is transforming from a fragmented group into a regional terrorist organization. Instead of large units, they are now operating through small cells spread across various places. It was also claimed that the organization has built a strong logistical and financial network.
