Engineers' talent must be utilized in telecom infrastructure development: Minister
Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that engineers' talent, skills, and innovative thinking must be utilized to develop and modernize the country's telecommunications infrastructure and ensure improved communication services for all.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at an introductory meeting with assistant divisional engineers who joined the 27th BCS Telecommunications Cadre, held at the Telecommunications Department in Tejgaon, Dhaka on Wednesday.

The minister said, in today's world, the telecommunications system is one of the main foundations of a country's economic and social development. Bangladesh is also advancing rapidly through digital transformation. To make this progress more dynamic, it is essential to build skilled human resources and a modern technology-based telecommunications infrastructure.

Addressing the newly joined engineers, the minister said, government duty is not just a job; it is an important opportunity to serve the people. In performing duties, honesty, professionalism, accountability, and patriotism must be given the utmost importance. He also called upon them to regularly enrich their skills and knowledge in keeping with rapid technological changes.

Fakir Mahbub Anam said, by increasing the capacity of the telecommunications sector, improved and uninterrupted communication services must be delivered to people in remote areas of the country. At the same time, everyone concerned must work sincerely to ensure affordable, quality, and people-friendly telecommunications services by utilizing the potential of new technologies.

At the meeting, the assistant divisional engineers who joined the 27th BCS Telecommunications Cadre introduced themselves and exchanged views on their expectations and action plans for the development of the telecommunications sector.

At the beginning of the introductory meeting, the minister visited the activities of the Cyber Threat Detection and Response (CTDR) Center located at the Telecommunications Department.

The Director General of the Telecommunications Department, Dr. Md. Ashraf Hossain, presided over the meeting. Officials concerned of the Telecommunications Department and the newly appointed assistant divisional engineers were present at that time.
