Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani conducted the oath ceremony. The event began with the national anthem and recitation from the Quran. After taking the oath, the President signed the oath book and formally assumed his duties.
Mirza Fakhrul takes oath as country's 23rd president
At the ceremony, Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tareque Rahman, former acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman, opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor Muhammad Yunus, along with cabinet members, members of parliament, judges, diplomats and senior government officials were present.
After the presidential oath, the new cabinet members are scheduled to take oath. Abdul Moin Khan, Andaleev Rahman Partho, Saching Pru Jerry, Mohammad Shameem Kaiser Linkon and Humayun Kabir are being added to the cabinet. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat will also take oath as a full minister.

Earlier, on Thursday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected in the presidential election with 255 votes. His rival, Colonel (retd.) Oli Ahmed, candidate of the 11-party alliance, got 88 votes.
