BAJUS announced the new price in a notice on Saturday (August 22) morning. The new price came into effect from 10:00 am the same day.
BAJUS said the new gold price has been set considering the overall situation as the price of raw gold increased in the local market.
According to the new rate, with VAT, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori or 11.664 grams is Tk 246,110. Similarly, per bhori of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 235,030 and 18-carat gold at Tk 201,846. The price of traditional gold per bhori has been set at Tk 164,812.
According to BAJUS's decision, this rate will remain effective in all jewellery establishments across the country until further instructions. However, for making ornaments, wages will apply separately depending on the design and type of work.
Besides, as VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, no separate VAT can be collected from customers. In the case of exchange or purchase and sale of ornaments, BAJUS's previous rule will remain in effect, excluding the fixed VAT, wages and stone prices.
Earlier, BAJUS adjusted gold prices on August 20. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was fixed at Tk 240,628 by raising Tk 3,849 per bhori.
At that time, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori was Tk 229,781, 18-carat gold was Tk 197,355, and traditional gold was Tk 161,196.
According to BAJUS data, gold prices have been adjusted 106 times in the domestic market so far in 2026. Of these, prices were increased 54 times, decreased 51 times, and VAT was adjusted once. Last year, that is, in 2025, gold prices were changed a total of 93 times.
