Dhaka wants 'reset' in relations with Delhi
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's possible India visit is currently suspended. Before the visit, Dhaka has given two conditions to create a 'conducive environment'.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first condition is—sending back to Bangladesh the fugitive criminals staying in India, including Sheikh Hasina, under the bilateral extradition treaty. The second condition is handing over to Bangladesh those accused in the murder of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. Dhaka is awaiting India's response on these matters.

According to former diplomat M Humayun Kabir, Bangladesh wants to move away from the old relationship framework and reorganize the relationship anew. In this regard, Dhaka is emphasizing the 'Bangladesh First' policy.

However, according to analysts, despite differences, there is scope to resolve the complexities in the relationship through dialogue instead of stopping top-level talks.
