Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on being elected as the country's 23rd president.
On Saturday (22 August), in a Facebook post, the Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected president. He expressed hope that under the new president's leadership, the country and the nation will move forward on the path of greater prosperity.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was earlier elected Member of Parliament from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency. After being elected president, his parliamentary seat has been declared vacant.

Wishing Mirza Fakhrul success in discharging his duties as president, the Prime Minister said it is expected that he will succeed in performing this important constitutional responsibility of the country.
