He disclosed this while talking to journalists during a visit to Sylhet on Saturday (August 22).
The commerce minister said, due to the ongoing energy crisis, the government will focus on expanding small, medium and cottage industries instead of more energy-dependent investments. There is a target to increase the contribution of these enterprises to at least 60 percent in the country's industrial sector in the future.
He further said the government is also thinking about alternative energy arrangements for the proposed new BSCIC industrial city in Sylhet.
