He gave this instruction while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on infection prevention and control at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Monday (August 24) morning.
The health minister said that infection treatment cannot rely only on antibiotics; rather, more emphasis must be placed on infection prevention.
He said that effective initiatives must be taken consistently to prevent major diseases and infections. In addition, public awareness about infection prevention needs to be increased.
At the event, Dr. S M Ziauddin Haider, special assistant to the prime minister, said that there is no alternative to ensuring personal cleanliness as well as hospital cleanliness to prevent infections.
He said that in waste management, not only public hospitals but also private hospitals must be brought under an effective system.
At the seminar, Director of the Infection Prevention Department of SingHealth and Associate Professor Ling Moy Lin gave a scientific presentation on infection prevention.
The seminar was held under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
