Today at Nagar Bhaban, a meeting titled 'Sayedabad AC Bus Terminal Management' was held under the chairmanship of DSCC Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md. Abdus Salam. The meeting was attended by DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Khaybor Rahman, Chief Engineer Nur Azizur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) of DMP Md. Anisur Rahman, and General Secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Md. Saiful Alam among others.
The meeting was informed that through review with DMP and the bus owners association, the modernization and new design of Sayedabad bus terminal have been prepared. It allocated additional space for AC bus servicing, passenger boarding and alighting, and counter management.
The DSCC administrator instructed to implement the plan as soon as possible. Since the conventional tender process may take more time, the bus owners association has been asked to submit a proposal to implement the work in a short time.
Several important decisions were taken to improve passenger services. These include setting up AC bus counters by expanding the building under construction at the site of the old motor garage, widening the entrance, constructing parking sheds and walkways, and constructing a new counter shed on the south side of the Khulna divisional counter shed.
In addition, decisions have been made to take measures to prevent rainwater from entering counter sheds during the monsoon, improve the terminal's drainage system, and install adequate benches for passengers.
The DSCC authorities hope that if the plan is implemented quickly, discipline in public transport in the Sayedabad area will increase, traffic congestion caused by bus counters scattered on the roads will decrease, and passengers' suffering will be significantly reduced.
