Government will provide policy support to protect interests of all parties in the media
Prime Minister's political adviser Zahir Uddin Swapan said the government will provide policy support to make the media stronger and more institutional.

He said this at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club on Tuesday (August 25). He said that in addition to making newspaper owners' investments safe and profitable, the interests of editors, journalists and printing press workers must also be ensured.

He said, the main responsibility of journalism is to question power. A democratic government sees questions as an asset, and through this the government's accountability increases further.

Zahir Uddin Swapan also said that the media must have room for a diversity of opinions. Along with constructive criticism, presenting objective information is the main foundation of a free press.
