In a letter sent to the finance minister on June 22, Dulu requested that Swapan Kumar Goswami’s appointment be given favourable consideration.

The letter highlighted Goswami’s integrity, competence and professional experience throughout his long career, as well as his expertise in central banking, financial sector supervision, policy formulation, risk management and administrative leadership.

It also stated that his experience and expertise could play an important role in Bangladesh Bank’s ongoing reform initiatives.

Asked about the recommendation, Whip Dulu said, “He is a voter from my constituency, and that is why I wrote the letter.”
