Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said a special police unit has been formed to recover illegal and looted weapons. Those who provide information to help recover weapons will be rewarded up to Tk 2 lakh.
On Saturday, he said these things to journalists after the quarterly crime review meeting at Rajarbagh Police Auditorium.

The Home Minister said that operations have been launched to recover illegal weapons with the assistance of intelligence agencies. Meanwhile, operations are ongoing across the country to arrest extortionists and terrorists. Action will also be taken against police officers who fail to perform their duties.

He said efforts are underway to turn the police into a more people-friendly and trustworthy force. He also said that 1,326 weapons looted during the July mass uprising have not been recovered yet.
