Ahead of the upcoming local government elections, the Election Commission (EC) has published the final voter list. According to the list published on Monday afternoon, the total number of voters in the country stands at 12 crore 87 lakh 77 thousand.
Earlier, a draft voter list was published on August 9. At that time, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed had said that 3 lakh 9 thousand 315 new voters have been added during the voter list update.

According to the EC's plan, elections to different tiers of local government are scheduled to begin from November. The commission is initially preparing by giving priority to union parishad and municipality elections.
