If they sit on footpaths again, arrest if necessary: DSCC Administrator
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md. Abdus Salam has said that eviction drives against those conducting business by occupying footpaths will continue. He also said that if anyone sits on the footpath again after eviction, legal action will be taken and, if necessary, they will be arrested.

He said these things to journalists after the drive conducted as part of cleanliness, revenue collection and mosquito control activities in the capital's Baksibazar to Chankharpul area on Tuesday (September 1).

The DSCC administrator said, initially most traders will be warned and given a specific time. If they do not ensure cleanliness within this time and do not conduct business according to law, legal action will be taken later.

He said, concerned authorities will be instructed to keep the road and footpath clean from Baksibazar to Chankharpul. Those conducting business on footpaths will be asked to leave. At the same time, those who do not have trade licenses will be asked to obtain licenses, and those whose licenses have not been renewed will be requested to renew them.

Saying, 'We do not want to take any action', he said, if everyone obeys the law on their own, there will be no need to take strict measures. However, if anyone sits on the footpath again after eviction, legal action including arrest will be taken if necessary.
