BADC's Scale Vetting Without Grade Demotion Brings Relief to Officers and Employees
After a long wait, the much-anticipated scale vetting for officers and employees of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has been implemented. As the revised order was issued keeping the existing grades unchanged, joy and relief have been observed among officers and employees.

Earlier, the scale vetting order contained grade demotions for various posts and tough conditions for promotions, which created discontent among officers and employees. In protest, work stoppages, human chains and peaceful programmes were held at the head office and various departments.

According to the report, when the matter came to the Prime Minister's attention, she instructed to implement scale vetting while keeping the grades unchanged, taking into consideration the existing grades and positions of officers and employees. Later, the previous order was reviewed and a revised order was issued.

Officers and employees view this decision as recognition of their long-standing demand and professional dignity. They hope that with renewed enthusiasm, various activities including seeds, fertilisers and irrigation for farmers can be made more dynamic.

Meanwhile, as the pension system is not currently in operation at BADC, officers and employees have also sought the Prime Minister's intervention in this regard. They expect that if the pension system is introduced quickly, the long-standing uncertainty will be removed and they will be able to work with greater enthusiasm for agriculture and food security.
