Initiative taken for solar power project spanning 8,000 acres in Chandpur

He shared this information while speaking as the chief guest at an eye camp in Matlab Uttar, Chandpur, on Friday.

The BIDA chairman said agricultural activities will also continue on the land beneath the solar panels. As a result, the same land will continue agricultural production alongside electricity generation. Several potential sites have already been identified for the project.

He said if the project is implemented, around 5,000 people could get employment. It will also help reduce Chandpur's power shortage. A visible improvement in the power situation is expected within the next one to two years.

Meanwhile, the feasibility of establishing an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) for export-oriented industries on government khas land in Chandpur is also being examined. Along with land, a suitable location will be selected considering infrastructure facilities including electricity, gas, road and water transport connectivity.
