A group is uncomfortable giving credit for August 5: Shishir Manir

He made the remarks while speaking at the ‘National Dialogue on Referendum’ organized at the National Press Club on Saturday.

Shishir Manir said a political group becomes uncomfortable when the events of August 5 are discussed. Because the message created by the movement during the mass uprising did not come from their side. So they are also reluctant to give credit to those associated with that message.

Describing BNP as a people's party, he urged respecting the people's opinions and aspirations. He also advised against trying to control the movement's slogans and national unity according to party preference.

Referring to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Shishir Manir said he has a unique opportunity to establish himself as a statesman. Whether he will become a true statesman or remain an ordinary politician is a decision he must make.
