At a discussion meeting titled ‘Upcoming UN Conference and Bangladesh's Branding’ held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam said, for this reason, this session carries special significance for Bangladesh.
He said, getting the presidency of the General Assembly is a matter of national pride for Bangladesh. Although Cyprus had been campaigning for this post for almost a decade, Bangladesh finally got this responsibility.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs informed that this diplomatic success was achieved through the combined efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh's 83 missions abroad, as well as the restoration of democratic governance and stability in the country.
He described this session as a symbol of Bangladesh's ‘new journey, new possibilities and new aspirations’.
