On Saturday, under the leadership of regional executive officers, cleaning drives, public awareness rallies and leaflet distribution were carried out in the day-long program. Citizens were urged to keep their own homes and surrounding environment clean as well as to dispose of waste in designated places.

Emphasis was also placed on citizen awareness and social partnership in dengue prevention and sustainable waste management. People from government and private institutions, educational institutions, markets and shopping complexes, as well as people from various classes and professions, took part in the program.

To make the weekly cleanliness day effective, 'Cleaning Day' is being observed on the first Saturday of every month in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
