He was arrested on Monday night during a raid in an area of the upazila based on a tip-off. Later, police said 30 yaba pills were recovered through a body search.

Police claimed that preliminary interrogation revealed information about Bijon Kumar Chowdhury's involvement in drug trade. He was also known locally to be involved in drug trade.

In this connection, the process of filing a case against him under the Narcotics Control Act is underway.

Mathbaria police station said that drives against drugs would continue and such operations would be further intensified in the future.
