The minister inspected 10 out of 35 operational warehouses at Tejgaon CSD on a random basis. Besides checking the quality of rice and flour, she spoke with warehouse keepers and verified from registers how long the food grains had been in storage.

Officials informed that Tejgaon CSD has a total of 43 warehouses, of which four are used to store relief materials of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. Currently, around 37,000 metric tonnes of food grains are stored in the 35 operational warehouses.

During the visit, when the matter of several warehouses becoming unusable was brought to the minister's notice, she instructed that they be quickly repaired and made fit for use. She also said she would take personal initiative if necessary.

CSD officials and employees placed various problems and limitations, including manpower shortages, before the minister. The minister assured them of resolving these issues step by step and said she would discuss matters involving the Ministry of Finance.

The food minister said everyone must perform their duties with responsibility. She will make surprise visits occasionally, and negligence of duty will not be tolerated in any way.

Emphasising the protection of state resources, she said, "The country belongs to everyone. Just as one cannot allow the property of one's own house to be damaged or stolen, similarly no irregularity or negligence will be accepted in the case of state resources."

The minister instructed all concerned to work with utmost caution and responsibility to ensure safe storage of food grains, maintain their quality, and ensure proper distribution.

During the visit, Food Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, Director General of the Directorate General of Food Md. Jasim Uddin Khan and other concerned officials were present.
