The meeting was held on Tuesday at the office of the Minister of the Road Transport and Highways Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat. During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner greeted the minister with flowers.
In the meeting, Sheikh Rabiul Alam said Bangladesh and India are historically close neighbours. He said there is an expectation that the relations between the two countries will be taken forward in a more positive and fruitful way, with emphasis on mutual respect, cooperation and the welfare of the people.
Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said India is sincere in moving the relationship with Bangladesh forward in a positive and constructive manner. He expressed the expectation that the relationship would be further strengthened prioritising the mutual welfare and interests of the peoples of the two countries.
The meeting discussed the common cultural heritage of the two countries, historical ties, bonding between the peoples and various issues of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on the possibility of increasing cooperation in the future.
Secretary of the Ministry of Railways Md. Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Bridge Division Mohammad Abdur Rauf, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Zakaria and other concerned senior officials were present on the occasion.
