Innovation must be taken from concept to market: Minister of Science and Technology
Minister of Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam has emphasized not only creating innovations but also transforming them into economic and social value and bringing them to market. To this end, he called for ensuring financing, policy support, partnership with the industrial sector, and intellectual property protection for innovators.

He said this at a news briefing held at the conference room of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Dhaka on Thursday on the occasion of Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026.

The minister said the three-day Bangladesh Innovation Fair will be held at Novotheatre in Dhaka from September 12 to 14. Prime Minister Tareq Rahman will inaugurate the fair.

He said that although students, researchers, universities, startups, and industrial establishments are creating new solutions, the big challenge is to connect these initiatives with investment, industry, and the market. The goal of this year's fair is to create a strong and market-oriented innovation environment.

More than 100 innovators will showcase more than a thousand innovations at the fair. Various public and private organizations, including 73 public and private universities, banks, corporate bodies, and industrial establishments of the country, will participate in it.

Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain said that over the three days, a total of 17 sessions and dialogues will be held, including six full sessions, six parallel sessions, and five roundtable discussions. After the fair, an initiative will be taken to build an integrated innovation center centered on promising innovations.

He said that through this, in addition to identifying innovations, support will be provided for development, financing, intellectual property protection, and marketing. At the fair, alongside displaying innovations from various priority sectors of science and technology, emphasis will be placed on creating connections between innovation and policy, investment, and industry.

Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam said the government is working to advance Bangladesh as a more innovative, competitive, and future-ready state through science, technology, and innovation.
