No doctor, Tk 2 lakh bill: Relatives wail after child's death
Relatives have expressed outrage, alleging the absence of doctors after the death of a 9-month-old child at a private hospital in the capital. At the same time, allegations have also been raised of charging more than Tk 2 lakh for the child's treatment.

On Sunday (13 September) late at night, a relative named Asif Hasan came on Facebook Live and described the situation after the child's death in the hospital's PICU. The video later spread on social media.

Asif claims that his niece's son was admitted to Padma General Hospital on Bir Uttam CR Dutta Road in the capital on 1 September. Doctors initially said the child's blood sugar level had dropped.

Asif alleges that during treatment, he was informed of various illnesses. On Sunday, although it was said that the child would be discharged the next day, in the afternoon he was suddenly told that life support was needed. He claims that he later went to see the child and found him dead.

According to him, ‘Even after calling out a hundred times, I did not find any doctor.’ He also alleges that after he went live, some people from the hospital authorities came and tried to rebuke him. He claims that although police later came to the scene, no action has been taken so far.

According to information provided by Asif, the child was being treated under Dr. Atiqur Rahman. However, as of the time of writing this report, no statement from the hospital authorities could be obtained regarding the doctor's detailed identity and the allegations.
