The Home Minister said that with the rise in technology-driven crime, the importance of investigative journalism has increased alongside a modern legal framework in suppressing and preventing crime. The root causes of crime, not just its symptoms, must be found. According to him, drugs and gambling play a major role behind various crimes.

He said crime reporters provide objective news at risk. The matter of assisting journalists injured or harmed while performing professional duties will be considered. Alongside, the legal aspects of issuing certificates as recognition for contributions to investigative journalism will also be reviewed.
