TCB Going Digital, Transparency in Subsidy Distribution to Increase
An initiative has been taken to digitally transform TCB's services to make them easier, more transparent and accountable. The use of technology in product distribution is being increased through digital cards, the ‘Upokari’ mobile app, online dealer management, POS and artificial intelligence-based monitoring.

At the inauguration ceremony of the digital transformation program in TCB's conference room on Thursday, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that through technology it will be possible to deliver government subsidy benefits to real beneficiaries and ensure transparency in distribution.

Even if the card is lost, goods can be received through the new mobile app by verifying identity using a digital QR code. Transparency in dealer recruitment and financial transactions will also increase through online dealer management, digital lottery and online payment.

Along with biometric verification, online payment and instant sales receipts at POS, AI-based real-time monitoring is being introduced. Through this, product distribution and potential irregularities can be monitored instantly.

It was informed at the event that after verifying information, nearly 5.9 million ineligible applicants have been excluded. Currently about 7.9 million beneficiaries are under TCB, with a goal to increase it to 10 million in the future. Due to digital transformation, the government expects to save about Tk 300 to 350 crore in subsidies in the current fiscal year.
