A total of 95 teachers were finalized from across the country through the National Steering Committee. Apart from that, 6 more teachers received honours through the Prime Minister's selection. However, if any adverse information is later found against the selected teachers, provision has been kept to remove their names from the list.
This year, 10 teachers received honours at the primary level, 20 at the secondary level, 25 at the college level, 20 at general universities, 10 at medical colleges and universities, 3 at agricultural universities, 3 at engineering universities, and 4 at other specialized universities including science and technology. Including the 6 selected by the Prime Minister, a total of 101 teachers received this honour.
Among the 10 at the primary level, 8 are teachers of general educational institutions and 2 are from madrasas. At the secondary level, there are 10, 5 and 5 teachers from general, technical and madrasa respectively, and at the college level there are 15, 5 and 5 teachers.
Among the 20 honoured from general universities, 18 are teachers of public universities and 2 of private universities. In medical education, 5 teachers from medical colleges and 5 from medical universities received honours.
The ceremony was presided over by Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon. Special guests were Md. Selim Bhuiyan MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education; Mahdi Amin, Adviser to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office; and Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
