He made the call on Saturday (October 10) at a dengue prevention and special cleanliness drive event organized by DNCC's Region-5 at the Bachhila High School ground in the capital.
Shafiqul Islam Khan said, in light of Prime Minister Tareque Rahman's announcement, an initiative has been taken to keep the premises of homes, business establishments and residences of government employees clean for at least 10 minutes every Saturday. To control dengue, reducing waste and destroying mosquito breeding grounds is essential.
He said, compared to the last nine years, the number of dengue patients in the DNCC area is much lower. To destroy larvae, one magistrate has been appointed in each region. He also mentioned plans to construct an aesthetic community center in the Bachhila area.
Calling for everyone's cooperation to fulfill the long-standing expectations regarding footpaths and local residents, the DNCC Administrator said that citizens' cooperation is needed to implement various measures taken in the public interest, including the removal of autorickshaws and hawkers.
The chief guest at the event was State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj. The special guest was Ataur Rahman Dhali, adviser to the BNP Chairperson. At that time, DNCC officials, local dignitaries, and teachers and students were present.
