He made the call at an election courtyard meeting on Sunday (October 11) noon in Chilarong Union of the Thakurgaon-1 constituency. Delwar Hossain alleged that after the election, the ruling party has become involved in corruption, irregularities, extortion, and partisan favoritism. He also remarked that if they are elected in the future, the suffering of the people will increase further.
He said that if elected, he will ensure good governance and accountability. He will not allow misuse of government allocation funds and will not politicize the distribution of allocations. He also promised to provide government opportunities and facilities equally to everyone regardless of religion, caste, and political affiliation.
Raising allegations of corruption and irregularities against past public representatives, Delwar said this did not change the fate of ordinary people; rather, he claimed that the wealth of elected representatives, their relatives, and followers increased. Noting that Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build a discrimination-free and humane society, he sought local people's cooperation to build a Thakurgaon free from drugs, terrorism, and extortion.
Urging people to vote for the scales symbol on October 29, he said that justice and equity-based leadership is needed to establish a society free from terrorism, extortion, and drugs.
In his speech as a special guest at the event, Rashed Pradhan, spokesperson of the National Democratic Party (JAGPA), also called for voting for the scales symbol in protest against corruption, terrorism, extortion, and partisan favoritism.
The meeting was presided over by Fazle Rabbi Mortazabi, president of the Ulama Division of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Thakurgaon District, and conducted by Mozammel Haque, president of Chilarong Union. Mahmudul Hasan, president of the Thakurgaon city branch of Islami Chhatra Shibir, also spoke at the meeting. Local leaders of the 11-party alliance were present at the time.
