He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a reception ceremony organized by the Mymensingh City Corporation at noon on Sunday (October 11) for students who obtained GPA-5 in the SSC-2026 examination.
The minister said he does not want to leave the Mymensingh division neglected. To develop greater Mymensingh, work will be done together with members of parliament, the administration, and all concerned. He also said a survey will be conducted soon to assess the feasibility of constructing an international airport in Trishal.
The minister assured that he would discuss with Prime Minister Tareq Rahman the matter of converting Mymensingh Engineering College into a university. He further said that development work on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway has begun. Besides, initiatives will be taken to develop Birishiri in Netrokona as a national-level tourist destination.
Regarding the expansion of Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet, the minister said that an initiative has been taken to purchase 35 aircraft. There are plans to add these aircraft to the fleet in phases between 2031 and 2036-37. Work will also be done on the possibility of launching direct flights to destinations such as New York, Sydney, South Korea, and China.
Addressing the students, he said that alongside good results, they must stand by the underprivileged people of society. Young people must build themselves through a drug-free environment, sports, and the practice of discipline. He also said that the programs announced in the government's election manifesto—including family cards, farmer cards, canal excavation, and tree planting—will be implemented in phases.
Regarding the upcoming Durga Puja, the minister said that if anyone tries to create disorder, strict legal action will be taken against them.
Speaking as a special guest at the event, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury called upon students to move forward based on merit and ability. He said an information complex is being constructed in Mymensingh, where, along with facilities for journalists, there will be a modern cineplex and entertainment arrangements. There are also plans to construct information complexes in 64 districts of the country in phases.
The event, presided over by Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Md. Rukunuzzaman Rokon, was attended by local members of parliament, the chairman of the Mymensingh Development Authority, government officials, political leaders, teachers, guardians, and meritorious students.
